Would you respect someone more bc they've overcome the odds?

It really depends. Like for example if someone came from a bad environment and bad financial situation and worked their wa through college then yes I would respect them highly because this shows that they are hardworking and determined to accomplish their dreams. But if a person overcame the odds as in overcame cancer then I mainly contribute this is due to the doctors and medications they took so I would have more respect for the college person than the cancer person. I hope that makes sense.
