You can't target a specific part of your body to lose fat on--basic aerobic exercises, like running and biking, will make you lose fat all over your body, but areas like the thighs and butt for women usually gather fat more than other parts. For men, it's the stomach area. As long as you eat right and regularly perform aerobic exercises, you should lose weight soon enough. Building muscles will make you firmer, and it shouldn't really make your butt bigger.
